Abbas Air Student Pairing Programme

What is the Student Pairing Programme?

The aim is to pair students during their lessons.

This means:

  • You are able to observe a flight exercise from the backseat without the distraction of flying the aircraft. This will make it a lot easier for many people to understand the principles involved and notice things that they may have missed when also in control of the aircraft. Imagine navigating or focusing on the procedures of a forced landing from the back seat!
  • It means you have someone to work along side toward your PPL, someone to discuss the various aspects that you enjoy or find a challenge. It also brings a social side to your flying.
  • More time airborne! Also as the instructor is briefing two students at once more can be achieved during the lesson.

How does it work?

Students record the stage of flight training they have reached. Abbas Air instructors pair students they feel would work particularly well and arrange a suitable booking.

Two students are booked one after the other with one Instructor. The instructor pre-flight briefs both students. The first student flies with the other observing. A quick debrief and the students change seats. The second student flies with the first observing. A full debrief follows. Both students have flown the lesson and observed from the back seat.

Does is cost anything to be involved?

As long as you’re a member of Abbas Air undergoing flight training it costs nothing to be paired with another student. It just gives students more time to see exactly what it is they’re meant to be doing, for the same cost as if they were flight training alone.

What if I can’t commit to regular flight training days?

It doesn’t matter too much. It would be nice for pairs of students to partner each other for their entire PPL training. ‘Real-life’ will make that pretty unlikely for a lot of people, so you may find you end up working with a small number of fellow students.

If you would like to pair with another student please speak to instructor Simon Schwarz or the Operations Staff.
